Forest Riding for the Disabled provides riding lessons to children and adults with physical and or mental problems in the Forest of Dean.
We are part of a National RDA but are a charity in our own right and therefore liable for all our costs.
Riding lessons are not cheap and often the clients who would benefit most can least afford, we try to subsidise those clients.
Each client is unique in the equipment for their ride from their hat to their saddle to their stirrups and reins. We often have to buy specialised equipment for clients to get the most out of their rides.
Clients have varying capabilities from needing a leader for the pony and 2 side walkers to riding independently and entering competitions.
The feedback we get from clients is instant the smile when getting on, the giggles when a pony goes fast and the praise from parents and teachers who see changes such as sitting still for 30 minutes to vocalisation where there had been none.
We have tremendous coaches and volunteers without whom none of this would be possible. We have support of the owners and staff at Severnvale Equestrian Centre. We need your help for funds to continue to give riding lessons.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
