The DHC, like many charities has a few staff, lots of volunteers and is overseen by a Trustee Board made up of four people with different areas of expertise. The Centre Manager and the trustee board create a plan so the museum can keep meeting it's charity aims and stay open. The plans we have in place at the moment are:
To improve the Visitors Centre , offering new exhibitions for local residents, opening a new forest trail in the area behind the Centre
To create a Centre of Well Being in the Forest of Dean, including creating a reminiscence trail, workshops, and a memory Cafe and host a Well Being Event to showcase local organisations offering help and advice. This is supported by our friends at Dementia Alliance.
To celebrate Forest Industry and Invention by creating a new interactive exhibit showcasing the work of David and Robert Mushet to show how their inventiveness and experiments here in the Forest of Dean helped change industry in the industrial revolution
Host more workshops to make sure our heritage skills stay alive and are enjoyed by more people. Create a Forge in one of the Agricultural sheds.'
The Dean Heritage Museum Trust provides a much loved and valued service for the community.
We need your help so we can implement our plans and continue to preserve and develop our beautiful site for the whole community to enjoy.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
